Kau teng kueh.. Kue Lapis beras

A friend of mine introduced and sent me a recipe of making "kau teng kueh". Initially i felt is abit complicated in making it, but soon after a few reading, i felt it might be easy in mix the ingredients but only time consuming in steaming part.

The first trial was not too bad, my Mom in Law and Hubby told that it was too sweet. I agreed. And the kueh was softer and too sticky, perhaps too much water or less of the flour. Thus decided to make another one on the next day.

My second trial was not much different with the first one, but this time the kueh was not too sweet. This time, i make it into 3 colors, white(the original flavor), pink and another one i am not very sure to claim it as a green color. But indeed i use the pandan leaf. Before cook, the color was a green color, but when it cooked, there you can see on the photo.. so be pleased to assume yourself of wat color it is. hehe
Funny to say that , Happy did not have much on it. I have an opinioin that she does not like a sweet and sticky foods.

Happy New Year 2010

I believe everyone was busy in planning to celebrate the special event, New Year eve. Xmas just over, new year came. Hubby half day worked and i spent the whole day at home. We did not plan much for the new year eve. Every year is the same, mostly just went out to the complex, enjoying the fireworks around the area.

Cherish woke up in the middle of her sleep while Happy was soundly slept. The fireworks were so loud and bang continuously. I captured one photo to keep it as memory of her first new year eve. I noticed that her hat, pyjama, and the socks were not matching in color, after being reminded by my cousin. Hehe...I remembered that i just grabbed whatever i saw to put on her to able catch a look on the fireworks.

The first day of new year, we went out for late lunch " Ajisen Ramen" at Pluit Village. Cherish and Happy had their lunch at home already. Once step into the mall, Happy had shown her impatient to Timezone. I decided to let her with the babysitter went themselves, while Cherish stayed with us. I put aside all the forks, spoons and our dishes from her, but she still tried to reach the items. Finally i put her still by giving her the baby crackers. She was fine by then.

After lunch, we went down to have our favorite appetizer 'yogurt' at Heavenly Blush. I let Cherish tried on it. She shown me her funny face as she tasted a new cold foods, and it definitely taste sour. yummy

The Xmas tree outside the shop was attracted me to snap a few shots. Happy errand here and there with her barely feet.

Evening time after drove Cherish and the babysitter home, we went to another nearby mall, Emporium Pluit, precisely at Carrefour. But this time, Barron came with us. I put Happy and Barron at each trolley car when waiting for Hubby. He bought 5 cameras at once for company used. Each costs Rp 1.6million. He firmly said that, the cheaper price was hardly find out at the other places. I hope so.

After the carrefour, we went to the Mall lobby. The Xmas decoration stage was still there. However the children were not allowed to went up to the stage. There was a guard man stood at side. Funnily to say that, the parents were not even put a little effort in helping the man to ask their kids to came down. They were happily snapped few photos of their children, that's inclusive me :)

Merry Xmas 2009

There were few Xmas celebrations held. It made me busy in about 2 weeks finding the presents gifts for every nieces, nephews, Mother in Law, Hubby, and maids. I believe with this event, everybody is endless spending that boosts up the economic.

One of the pose at my Tua Pek's (my dad's eldest bro) house. We celebrated 2 days after the xmas day. Cherish starting to creep instead of crawling. She was infurated in grabbing the gifts.

Everybody was ready for the exchange gifts. I didnot take the shot on the gift that happy and cherish got from her aunts, my camera battery was flat and was too busy in unwrap the gifts.

The Xmas day itself, we brought children, Happy and Barron (Sister in law's son from US) out to nearby mall, Emporium Mall. Since we went out at about 7+pm, Cherish was slept at home. I like this mall as there are variety of restaurants and fastfood outlets.

A shot with the white xmas tree in front of SOGO.

Cherish tried on her tutu mini skirt, a xmas gift from Aunt Lenny. That morning, she was prettily happy finding that every one gathered at the living room. Normally, she was the first one with her babysitter and maids in the living room on every morning. Poor cherish:)

This is a recommended coloring books. Mess free. A very rigth gift from Aunt Lenny to Happy as she likes coloring so much.

A photo shot before opening the gifts.

An earlier Xmas celebration at Happy's School, Lollipop-Pluit branch. Now i know which one is Willy, the boy's name that Happy frequently mentioned on. The boy (grey shirt with one hand lifted up) are so actively closed to Happy and he was her dancer partner too.

The only one dancing performance with the small aqua bottle wrapped on. initially Happy was fine in dancing, she still able to follow the rhythm and the instruction given by the teacher at front. However, at about 3 minutes the moving slowly held back and until now, i am still wondering what happens on her. Her face was look starting to cry, but she did not cry at the end of the performance. Ehmm....
Overall, the Xmas celebrations were made me busy and tired in finding and wrapping the gifts. Mostly i waited the kids went off to the bed to start my wrapping. And it held me from bed until 3am. Oh gosh, i was so tired for those few days. My hubby was kept complaining when he saw me busy with all those stuffs. However, by looking on every kids happily opened the gifts, with their smiles and laughs, make all my efforts put are paid off.
Here, i wish all the kids in this world, have a wonderful xmas celebration. For those unfortunate kids (beggar, orphanage etc) i wish them will have a better life and loves.
Jingle bell...jingle bell..jingle all the way... MERRY XMAS 2009

Small gathering

My ex-junior high school friend, Brenda Chiuman with her family came from USA. I arranged small gathering with our ex-schoolmates at lunch hour, the venue was at Taman Anggrek Mall. She has two boys, Alaric (8 yrs) and Tristan (1yr). She is fully housewife looking after her two kids without any babysitter. I always admire with those mommies that able handle their kids alone. Perhaps they are forced to be independent and adapted with the environment. In Indonesia, i believe most of the mommies have maid and babysitter around. That's one of the best facilities provided, in the pay of the security and welfare in which are concerned here.

Brenda was a good friend of mine in Junior high school. We were pretty closed and like to hang out together. We are separated when we stepped to the next level, Senior high school. She had chosen to Business major, and i preferred Science major. I reckon, she was one of the most popular student at school. She's got the look..tall, slim, and very friendly. We began lost contact when she continued her studies to the state, and i went to Australia. However, we definitely met each other if we happened at the same town.
Currently, glad to know that she is doing fine with her two kids. I always love to share things with her, and every time i look at her, it reminds me of our teenage days. Time flies....

Happy's 3 years old Bday

Happy was helping out in making sushi .. She was happily put the mangoes on the rice but she held me up of rolling the sushi. *sigh* It took around 2 hours to finish it.

I held a small party at home to celebrate Happy 3 years old bday. Her actual birthday date was 14 November. But i celebrated it on the next day, which felt on Sunday. I invited a few closed friends of mine, Happy's neighbourhood friends and relatives. I made sushi in addition of fried seasoning chicken, tauco prawns, fried noodles, cap chai (vegetable) and fishball soup. My sis in law brought Ice Cendol.

Cherish was playing the TV remote control before the party.

Happy was joyfully entertained her friends by sharing all her toys. Unexpectedly that the nanny and maids came together. I missed count on this part, thus KFC and Pizza were definitely crossed my mind at once. I decided to order Pizza to assure everybody stomach bloated home . This is a very general issues that every kid has his/her own guard (nanny).

Happy with her neighbourhood friends.

Happy's birthday cake ordered via phone. Happy was astonished with the cake at first, and have been kept looking on it. This was 2 levels cake. The first level was a cork with a thin green creamy on it. the second was the cake. The toys took an important role to make the cake looks attractive. I ordered Winnie the Pooh character as this was one of the character she like. By right she preferred to Spiderman :)

Overall the party was succeed, hope this celebration would provide a significant meaning for her.

Vomit part II

Faith-Healing

This is an updated post on Happy Sickness of Vomit.

Having a thought that my girl would not be eating any wrong foods that caused her vomit (20 nov evening time), i was wrong. Her vomit problem was not yet settled down. Since it was sunday (3rd day), i brought her to an alternative healing (pekpek) instead of ICU. I always have a mind that if she was still able to stand of her sickness, did not show fatigue, still active even though she lost weigth drastically, i tried not to leave her hospitalized.

Pekpek gave a bottle of syrup (mixture of few medicines), taken 3x/ day. Her first spoon, was fine in an hour. Pekpek allowed her to eat anything she liked. But i dare not to give heavy meals yet, i gave misua instead as it might slowly adjusted her tummy in digestion. She finished all, but in half an hour, she threw up again. It was about 3x vomit until the next morning. Every time she puked, i gave her about 30ml Renalyte solution to prevent dehydration, half an hour later i gave 60ml milk (lessen the milk powder). Glad that she was not that fussy to drink.

The next early morning, i gave her the medicine again before her breakfast. (60ml bottle of milk with small piece of bread). But the medicine did not work. She kept saying that the tummy was painful since yesterday and it shown bloated. It panicked me, i was afraid she might had a gastric problem. I decided to bring her back to the same doctor by stopping pekpek's medicine. The doctor clearly verdicted that was a virus/ bacteria. The doctor suggested to put her on hospitalized if the new medicine prescribed did not work. Thanks God, she did not throw up the whole day, but worries did not end yet, Diarrhea came.

I remembered on her first visit, the doctor had prescribed the medicines (BIODIAR) for diarrhea too. I gave her only Biscuit Regal (rich in protein and calorie), bread and milk. But the looseness bowels getting worse. It was about 10x on that day. I considered a severe stage. I consulted the doctor via message, he advised me of keep giving the medicines + Renalyte solution.

It has been 3 days, there was no sign yet of recovery. My energy had run out, felt exhausted and stressed in facing her stubborn character ( insisting to have the foods that not supposed to have). I could not get any more pressure, i left her with the maid and went for reflexology. I felt guilty too, coincidentally my cousin called and advised me of having vegetarian for 3days. I followed her and every night i pray..... God listened... It worked... Finally on my 2nd day vegetarian, there was a sign of recovery. I had a good sleep since then. Thank you thank you Amitofo

Vomit

Happy had vomited 3 times. the first when she was having her dinner, second was after she finished up around 100ml water, and the last when during her sleep. She did mention an abdominal pain but i did not thoroughly checked. Instead I gave her Manuka Honey active 15+, but she vomited straigth away. Thus to soothe her belly i did not give her anymore drink or food for about half an hour, but I rubbed her tummy with a mixture of onion and oilmen to calm it down.

I kept wondering what was the cause as she had just as normal in a day time. There was no sign of sickness during the day. Would it because of the weather? It was windy when she took a stroll but i put her on jacket. It would not be of any virus/bacteria have infected her stomach as she had no diarrhoea. I would not force her of drinking the electrolite solution as there was no symtoms of dehydration yet. I just hope the vomit ends tonigth
.
